Let me share with you a little bit about my background and how I reached that point in my own journey
I launched my first Internet company while in college in 1998. The company was acquired by a public company in 1999 (ahhh, those were the days). I then helped raise over $5 million in venture capital and launched a second Internet company in 1999. We had a good run, but the dot com crash got the best of us and we filed for bankruptcy in 2001. Then I got my MBA and went to work for a large investment bank covering Internet companies in New York City. It was during this time I learned the power of domain names. I fell in love with the lifestyle and economics of the industry so much that I actually quit my six figure career to start ‘Domaining’ full time. Hard to believe, but its true!
My banker friends told me I was crazy. But now they’re all jealous. Many are laid off. Those that still have jobs have no life outside of work. And while they squander what’s left of their youth virtually chained to a desk, I travel the world, work at my leisure, manage my employees remotely, and wake up without an alarm clock.
But it wasn’t always this easy. When I first started Domaining my success was doubtful.
I picked up some profitable ‘type-in’ gems in the aftermarket, learned to comb the drop lists, and even hand registered some names I later re-sold for thousands of dollars. But then PPCs collapsed, aftermarket sales dried up, and things looked bleak. I had a sneaking suspicion I was missing something; that my domain names should be earning more.
I knew there was a growing disconnect between what advertisers were paying for clicks and what I was earning from parking companies such as Parked.com, Fabulous, Domain Sponsor, NameDrive, Sedo, and GoDaddy Cash Parking. The parking companies had grown fat and happy leaching off my domain investments and offered little discernible product innovation in return.
I became disillusioned by the false promises of domaining. There had to be a better way.
As revenues continued to plummet, I began losing sleep over my souring investments in domain names, lamenting:

Losing patience, I finally decided to do something about it. That’s when I jumped head-first into domain development.
